Boston, MA (PRWEB) July 20, 2012

Upward Mobility, a Boston-based educational mobile and tablet app company, launched its VTNE Exam Prep app on the Google Play store to support veterinary technician students. Upon release, the app has gathered superior ratings, deemed as the most popular VTNE Exam Prep app on Google Play.

"We are delighted that VTNE Exam prep is appealing to prospective veterinarian technicians," notes Ted Chan, founder of Upward Mobility. "We created this app to provide a handy study tool for VTNE test takers, liberating them from carrying heavy paperback study guides and review material."

VTNE Exam Prep's on-the-go study mode, along with a test mode simulating the real exam experience, has made it the ideal tool for VTNE test takers. Its 400 simulated exam questions paired with detailed explanations have proved to be particularly useful by favorable reviews on the Google Play Android market.

"Our target is to provide the most useful practice questions," says Chan, "along with an intuitive, user-friendly interface. The VTNE Exam Prep Android app on Google Play is a great app to look at when you wait by a bus stop."

Besides its positive reviews, Upward Mobility's 100% satisfaction guarantee also reflects its commitment to provide high quality educational apps.

The Best Apartments In Dallas

The Best Apartments in Dallas - How to Find Them!

How can you make sure that you are getting the best apartment at the best price in the Dallas area? Searching through the three thousand apartment options in Dallas can be a daunting task. In the end, you are likely to waste a lot of time going and visiting numerous communities that do not even have what you are wanting, and at the same time, passing up the best apartments that you weren't even aware existed.

In searching for the best apartments in Dallas, it's important to understand the framework of the city. Dallas is a Metroplex, which by definition, means that it is composed of a variety of suburbs that are all linked together to form one composite city. Even though each suburb is unique, it still is considered to be located in the city of Dallas. For instance, if you take just one of the suburbs as an example - Carrollton - when you are mailing a letter to the Carrollton area, it doesn't matter if you address the envelope "Carrollton, TX" or "Dallas, TX", because the postal authorities recognize that they are one in the same. So, when we refer to Dallas in this article, we are including all of it's components...all suburbs that make up the illustrious city.

When individuals are relocating to Dallas and are not very familiar with the city, part of the problem lies in that they do not realize how big the city is, and that it is composed of so many "sub-cities". They underestimate the number of apartment options that they will face when they arrive and are very surprised to see when they get here that they are facing thousands of rental homes to choose from, in a number of different areas. How can they possibly find the "best" rental choice amongst so many choices?

Well, before we can answer that question, we must clearly define what is meant by the term "the best apartments". This phrase will mean something different to different individuals. For one person who is needing something economical but safe, the best apartment to THEM might be a small efficiency one-room apartment that is located close to their work. For another person "the best apartment" might mean something with a beautiful view. For still another, it may be a property that has the most luxury amenities. So, really, the key to finding YOUR best apartment comes down to defining what exactly you are looking for, and where.

Whether you are relocating to Dallas, or you already live here and just want a change, here are the 4 steps to get started in finding the best apartment for you:

FIRST, it is critical that you determine exactly WHERE in the Dallas Metroplex you would like to live. Since Dallas is composed of a mixture of various suburbs, narrow down which area exactly you would want to relocate to. You might decide on an area based on where you work, making sure you are within close proximity. Or perhaps you are more concerned about being located close to a particular school, or a particular family member. You may want to stay within so many miles of these destinations, or within so many minutes drive time. You also may want to research and investigate what each sub-city of Dallas has to offer before you make your choice. In general, the further North you go from the downtown area, the newer and nicer the city of Dallas becomes. Try to avoid the areas South of Downtown Dallas. Here are some of the many options in Dallas to choose from:

Plano - Great destination for families. Located 20 miles North of Downtown Dallas. Great school districts and youth sports leagues. The population now exceeds 250,000. It was recognized as the 8th safest place to live by the FBI's most recent crime statistics. Plano is also a great place to do business.

Addison - Popular area for those seeking entertainment and nightlife. Addison is located 13 miles north of downtown Dallas and is connected to downtown by the Dallas North Tollway. With more than 150 restaurants, Addison has one of the highest restaurant per capital ratings in the nation. The main Street in Addison (known as Beltline) is also called "restaurant row", because you can find ANY restaurant that you have ever imagined on this street. Addison is also home to a world class mall called The Galleria. Addison is also known for it's frequent annual outdoor festivals, such as Oktoberfest, Taste of Addison, and the Shakespeare Festival. In addition to entertainment and nightlife, Addison is also a major hub for leading businesses.

Lewisville - Has an atmosphere similar to a small town, but functions and offers the amenities of a big city. Lewisville is located 20 miles north of downtown Dallas. It's also only a 10 minute drive to DFW International Airport, the 3rd busiest airport in the world. Shoppers can shop 'till they drop at Vista Ridge Mall, which offers more than a million square feet of retail shopping among 160 specialty retailers. For those who enjoy the outdoor life, Lewisville is known for it's many golf courses and has close proximity to 2 large lakes, including Lake Lewsiville.

Carrollton - Residents are drawn to the City of Carrollton for its high quality of life, abundant parks, schools and safe neighborhoods. In 2008, MONEY Magazine ranked Carrollton 15th in the country as the Best Place to Live. Carrollton is located 20 miles north of downtown Dallas and just 10 miles away from the DFW International Airport. Entertainment is nearby as Addison is only a few miles South of Carrollton for access to over 150 restaurants and the upscale Galleria Mall, and Lewisville is only a few miles North of Carrollton with access to Lewisville Lake and the Vista Ridge Mall. Carrollton residents enjoy more than 1,200 acres of developed park land, numerous playgrounds, biking trails and tennis courts. Two 18-hole golf courses in Carrollton have been rated among the top municipal golf courses in the state. Carrollton is also a great place to do business with over 5,200 businesses. It was also named recently as Texas' safest city. The Carrollton School District is "Recognized" and offers a high quality of education.

Irving - entrally located in between Dallas and Fort Worth and directly adjacent to the DFW International Airport, you have access to many areas of the Metroplex, whether you love sports, shopping, art or the outdoors. With a population of around 200,000, Irving is a vibrant city known for its cultural diversity. Irving children enjoy a high quality education. Home to thousands of corporations and the global headquarters of five Fortune-500 companies, you'll discover gleaming skyscrapers, two spectacular master-planned communities (Las Colinas & Valley Ranch) and the state's only five-diamond rated resort, the Four Seasons. It is here that you can catch the Byron Nelson Championship.

Uptown Dallas - Located within only 1 or 2 miles from Downtown Dallas, an apartment or loft in Uptown Dallas is your window to a vibrant world filled with a Metro-attitude. From your Uptown Dallas apartment, you can explore the city of Dallas and enjoy comfortable modern urban living. You can define this area as a conglomeration of "contemporary, urban, metro" and "old-world retro charm". Neighboring stores are filled with eclectic galleries and interesting and unique modernized antiques. From old restored historic buildings turned into modern contemporary lofts and apartments, to the most newly built urban communities, uptown Dallas has everything you are looking for, including a very diverse selection of restaurants on every corner located just outside your front door. Many residents of Uptown Dallas do not even have or use a car. They can access practically everything by just walking around the corner.

Downtown Dallas - it's been said that the only thing that rivals the restaurant scene in downtown Dallas is the arts scene. The Arts District is the largest urban arts district in the country, stretching 17 square blocks. A downtown Dallas apartment puts you within steps of museums, theaters and other artistic arenas. Not to be outdone, there are an eclectic array of restaurants that rival NYC and shopping for every taste and price point. From contemporary historic lofts that renovate existing spaces to modern newly built luxury resort apartments, your urban living choices dot the landscape and capture the skyline.

Besides the Dallas suburbs mentioned above, you have many others to consider as options such as: Frisco, McKinney, Allen, The Colony, Denton, Arlington, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, Grapevine, Garland, Mesquite, Richardson, and more - all of which are considered to be in the city of Dallas.

SECOND of all, once you have narrowed down the area where you would like to live in Dallas, the next step is to decide what KIND of rental home you would like to live in. Do you prefer a loft? Or a flat? How about a split level (townhome)? A highrise building or a historic building that has been converted to rental units? You may just prefer a regular, but nice apartment community. In addition to deciding what type or types of properties you are willing to consider, also decide how many bedrooms and bathrooms your new apartment needs to offer. Most properties in Dallas have certain occupancy rules that only allow no more than 2 adults per bedroom. So, for example, if you have a family of 4, you would need a 2 bedroom minimum. You may even have in mind a certain amount of squarefeet that you don't want to go under. The area that you choose will have a bearing on which kind of rental homes are available. For instance, if you want to live in a contemporary loft or an urban highrise or historical building that has been converted, you will likely have to stick to the Downtown and Uptown areas of Dallas. You will not find many of these options anywhere else in Dallas. But the further North you go, the more you will find of nice, newly built 2 and 3 story apartment complexes with individual attached garages, as well as newly built townhome communities.

THIRDLY, now that you have a general idea WHERE you want to live, and WHAT kind and size of apartment you need, the next step is to decide HOW MUCH you are willing to pay. What amount do you not want to go over? Most apartments in Dallas require that you earn approximately 3 times the rental amount. So, for instance, if your income is $ 3000 a month, then you probably would only qualify for an apartment that is about $ 1000 a month in rent. Keep these requirements in mind when you are deciding what rent amount you are willing to pay. Apartment communities in Dallas do verify your income as well. You must show evidence, such as paycheck stubs, that you earn 3 times the rent amount. If you are being transferred here to Dallas or you are relocating and starting a brand new job (you wouldn't have paycheck stubs yet in that case), then you can present a Hire Letter to the apartment community as proof of your income. The Hire Letter should be on Company Letterhead and clearly state what day you will begin your employment and what your income will be. It should be signed and have contact information. The apartments will usually call to verify the letter. If you provide paycheck stubs, they will likely also call your current employer and verify the paycheck stubs.

LASTLY, now that you have in mind a good general idea of what you are looking for, the fourth and most important step in finding YOUR perfect apartment is to call a reputable DALLAS Apartment Locating company to assist you in providing a free custom list of all the properties in the Metroplex that are the closest match to your specific criteria. The first thing they will do is ask you is for a detailed description of where you want to live (which suburbs are you willing to consider), how much you want to pay and can qualify to pay in rent, and what kind/size of property you want. Since you have already narrowed down this information, you will be ready to give it to the Locator and this will make the process much smoother.

Using a good, experienced Apartment Locator who is located in the Dallas area and has an in depth knowledge of all the 3000 rental properties in Dallas, is the quickest and easiest way for you to find the apartments that best match your criteria. They will not only save you a ton of wasted time exploring properties that are NOT a good match for you, but they also will make sure you are informed about the best specials and deals that are being offered in Dallas. Most renters end up saving an average of $ 500-$ 600 by using an Apartment Locator. This is because the Locator guides them to all the great deals that they would have otherwise not known about. The list that your Apartment Locator gives you will provide information such as pictures, floorplans, maps and details for every property in Dallas that they feel represents the BEST matches in the Metroplex for YOU.

Even if you have lived in Dallas your entire life, new properties are being built every day in this ever-expanding city. It is likely that there are options out there you are not even aware of. Take the guesswork and stress out of your Dallas apartment search and let a reputable local Apartment Locating Company help you.

How to Find Fossils in North Texas near Dallas/Ft. Worth

Mar 6th, 2009

Collecting fossils in any part of Texas is relatively easy, and only costs the gas you need to get to different places. It's a great hobby for adult and children alike.

You can find some kind of fossil within 20 minutes in Texas. You just have to try different areas. I am giving you information on the Dallas/Ft Worth, North Texas area.

West Fort Worth has abundant ammonites, heart-shaped sea urchins and other invertebrates, as well as NE Texas and the border of Oklahoma/Texas at the Red River. The Arlington, and Grapevine/Colleyville area is pretty sparse for fossils. However, there have been some fossils found of dinosaur, crocodile and ammonites. The Grand Prairie and Irving areas are good for collecting shark and fish teeth, vertebrae, and ammonites.
It is best to try in early spring or fall, and especially after rains, and even when it has not rained, and there is a lot of erosion.

The Eagle Ford Shale Formation produces ammonites with the original "mother of pearl." These beds, well exposed in cuts along the Dallas-Fort Worth highway at the western edge of the town, (see map) and have a thickness of one foot. They consist of gray to brownish, limestone containing considerable clay, silt and fine sand. In this area are numerous fossils including small ammonites, pelecypods, fish teeth [Ptychodus], and worm tubes or castings. There are also many shell fragments.
Any open bit of soil is a potential site. Try creeks and the slopes of hills were there is no vegetation for potential collecting sites.
If you don't find here, make sure to go to other cuts in roads and highways and check it out.

Dallas Centre

A few nice Dallas images I found:

Dallas Centre
Dallas

This model shows the proposal for Dallas Centre in 1976. One Dallas Centre was the only project built and it is in the lower center section of this picture. Two and Three towers were never built. I.M. Pei designed the complex, still popular in town from his Dallas City Hall design.

The site for the second tower (upper center) is now a parking lot, and the third tower site (on the left) is the parking garage for the Sheraton.

Republic Bank is located on the right in the model. This image is from a brochure about the project.

One of many viewpoints of the Dallas skyline.

I've been asked exactly where I shot this photo. I can't remember exactly where, since it's been a LONG time since I've been in Dallas, but I THINK it might have been from along N. Beckley Avenue, between W. Commerce Street and I-30 (a.k.a. "Tom Landry Freeway"), OR on that perimeter road that is just on the east side of Beckley Avenue, west of the Trinity River, south of Trinity Overlook Park and north of I-30.

After using Google Earth, I think it may have indeed been the aforementioned location.

Dr Jim Humphries Joins The

College Station, TX (PRWEB) April 16, 2012

The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is pleased to announce the addition of a unique position to the faculty of the veterinary medical school. Dr. Jim Humphries, a 1977 graduate of the school, joins the faculty in order to bring a rare set of talents and expertise to the world famous center of veterinary medical learning.

Dr. Humphries built a national media career from a once a week spot on WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas in the mid 1980?s. He went on to be the veterinary contributor for the national CBS News morning show for 12 years and has appeared regularly on CNN, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel and just about every national television and radio program in the country. His radio talk show was once syndicated into over 1,200 markets and he has written for Family Circle Magazine, USA Today, Women?s Day and many other national magazines.

His experience came through local media, then skyrocketed when called upon to be an industry spokesperson for a variety of veterinary companies. After 25 national media tours and meeting many like-minded colleagues ?on the road,? he realized that our nation?s veterinarians were eager to appear in media, but did not have the resources to make that happen. Dr. Humphries formed the Veterinary News Network (http://www.MyVNN.com) and went on to organize the nation?s media veterinarians into one highly successful organization that reaches over 800 million consumers each year.

Further realizing how important credibility and certification are to the media gatekeepers, Dr. Humphries also founded the American Society of Veterinary Journalists (http://www.ASVJ.org). The goal of ASVJ is to set some quality standards in veterinary journalism and help both media and the public understand which media contributors are the true ?animal health experts.?

As an Adjunct Professor of Media and Communications, Dr. Humphries will bring his real world communications skills and experience to students, faculty and our nation?s veterinary practitioners in a variety of media training classes, experiential learning and project. He even plans to produce real news stories as student projects to be used in all forms of traditional and emerging media.

?This is a once in a life-time opportunity for me to use the experience I?ve gained in 27 years of media work to help my colleagues do a much better job of communicating the great stories of veterinary medicine to the general public. I look forward to being highly creative and passing on this much needed talent to future generations of Doctors of Veterinary Medicine. It is an honor and a wonderful challenge at this point in my career,? said Humphries.

Dr. Lori Teller of Houston, TX and past president of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association says, ?Dr Humphries? leadership helps veterinarians not only tell their amazing stories, but have the courage to reach out to media in order to do so. There are many issues facing veterinarians today that need media attention, and we know that takes intelligent preparation. His years of news room experience and skill at creating media messaging has given many veterinarians the confidence to discuss sensitive and even controversial topics. This new position at Texas A&M University will help create a new generation of 'media ready' veterinary communicators!?

10. Matt Leinart

Matthew Stephen Leinart (born May 11, 1983 in Santa Ana, California) is the starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He played college football at Southern California, leading them to an AP national championship in 2003, a BCS national championship in 2004, and an appearance in the BCS National Championship game in 2005. Leinart earlier played quarterback in Santa Ana at Mater Dei High School. In 2004, his junior year at USC, he won the Heisman Trophy. 9. Terrell Owens

Terrell Eldorado Owens (born on December 7, 1973) is an American football wide receiver. He is currently a free agent. A six-time Pro Bowl selection, and former holder of the league single-game reception record, Owens has been one of the dominant receivers of his era. He holds or shares several NFL records, and his body of work has placed him in the top-10 in several receiving categories, including yards and touchdowns. As productive as he has been, Owens has been equally controversial, creating firestorms with almost every team he has played for as a professional. Owens played college football and basketball at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and was selected in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Owens was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004 after a spat with 49ers front office members. Two years later, he was released and signed to another large pact by the Dallas Cowboys, only to be given his unconditional release on March 4, 2009. Several days later, he was signed by the Buffalo Bills to a one-year contract. -Wikipedia.org

In track, he won the national title in the 55 meter hurdles as a senior. -Wikipedia.org

7. Eli Manning

Eli Nelson Manning (born January 3, 1981) is an American football quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League. He is the younger brother of NFL quarterback Peyton Manning and the son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning. He played college football at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) after attending prep school at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans. He was drafted as the first overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers, but immediately traded to the New York Giants, who traded 4th overall pick Philip Rivers. Manning won the most valuable player award in Super Bowl XLII on February 3, 2008.-Wikipedia.org

6. Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Charles Rodgers (born December 2, 1983 in Chico, California, U.S.) is the starting American football quarterback for the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. 5. Tom Brady

Thomas Edward "Tom" Brady, Jr. (born August 3, 1977) is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. After playing college football at Michigan, Brady was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He has played in four Super Bowls, winning three of them (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX). He has also won two Super Bowl MVP awards (XXXVI and XXXVIII), has been selected to five Pro Bowls (and invited to six, although he declined the 2006 invitation), and holds the NFL record for most touchdown passes in a single regular season. Brady has the sixth-highest career passer rating of all time (93.3) among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 career passing attempts. He was named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year in 2005. He also helped set the record for the longest consecutive win streak in NFL history with 21 straight wins over two seasons (2003?04). -Wikipedia.org

4. Jason Taylor

Jason Paul Taylor (born September 1, 1974 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is an American football linebacker for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round of the 1997 NFL Draft. He played college football at Akron. A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Taylor was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2006, and is the NFL's all time leader in fumble return touchdowns. He has also played for the Washington Redskins. -Wikipedia.org

3. Adam Vinatieri

Adam Matthew Vinatieri (born December 28, 1972 in Yankton, South Dakota) is an American football placekicker currently playing for the Indianapolis Colts. He has played in five Super Bowls, four with the New England Patriots and one with the Colts, winning all but one. (The Colts went to Super Bowl XLIV but Vinatieri was a healthy scratch.) Vinatieri won a Super Bowl in 2006 with Indianapolis and won Super Bowls in 2001, 2003, & 2004 with the Patriots. Vinatieri is the first kicker ever to play in six Super Bowls and win four Super Bowl rings. -Wikipedia.org

2. Tony Romo

Antonio Ramiro "Tony" Romo (born April 21, 1980) is a professional American football quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Romo's career passer rating - at 95.6 - ranks third-best all time. Romo replaced the Cowboys' previous starting quarterback Drew Bledsoe during a game against the New York Giants in the 2006 season. -Wikipedia.org

1. Reggie Bush

Reginald Alfred "Reggie" Bush II (born March 2, 1985) is a professional football player who plays for the New Orleans Saints of the National Football League. He has played running back/tailback, wide receiver, and punt returner. Bush played college football at the University of Southern California in 2003?2005, including two National Championship seasons. He has won numerous collegiate awards including the 2005 Heisman Trophy, but allegations that he received improper benefits are central to a controversy surrounding the USC program that have led to severe NCAA sanctions including a 2-year postseason ban, loss of football scholarships, and the vacating of wins in the 2004-05 championship season. Since the NCAA retroactively stripped Bush of his eligibility, the status of the many awards he won in 2005, including the Heisman, is uncertain. -Wikipedia.org

A somewhat odd list, if you ask me. Where is Chris Johnson (TN Titans)? And Matt Leinart? I think the jury is still out on him. Then you also left out Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald, Peyton Manning ... and I could go on. Just an odd list.

Our dog Charlie loves the dog park, where he can play and socialize with other dogs. Unfortunatly other dogs may be carrying fleas and or ticks which are atracted by the warm bobied canines. There are of course many sprays and powders availableon the market for repelling fleas and ticks, however most of them cost around and up for aneightoz bottle. Some of them claim to be herbal and "all natural" but do we know their chemical make up and affects. For this reasonI make my own herbal spraywhich cannot harm my dog, also it is more economical.

Instructions

Empty the contents of one bottle of skin so soft body lotion, by Avon into a plastic spray bottle. This forms the base for the repellent, it has a non greasy formula with aloa, so it also moisturizes and smell good. Add two parts water to one part Avon skin so soft.

Add 2-3 drops citronella oil. This essential oil is known as a plant based bio pesticide, so it won't harm your pooch. Moreover research has found it to be beneficial for calmingirate, barking dogs.

Add 2-3 drops lavender oil. This essential oil is known to be a mosquito repellent and also has has relaxing, calming effects as it is often used in aroma therapy.

Shake the bottle well to combine and spray your dog before taking him or her to the dog park. When sprayingpay close attentionto the neck and back areas or your dog.

Ingredients

plastic spraybottle
1 part skin so soft by Avon
2-3 drops lavender oil
2-3 drops citronella
2 parts water
